Almaty, the largest city in Kazakhstan, is a hidden gem in Central Asia, offers a unique blend of stunning landscapes, culture, and modernity. Here, we’ll explore what to expect when visiting Almaty and Kazakhstan, including places to visit, visa conditions for Indian UAE residents, the cost of a one-week trip, currency, and potential scams and how to travel on a budget.

Indians can visit for free if your stay here is within 14 days! Just make sure your passport is at least 6 months valid while traveling. Travel insurance is not mandatory. But I did have this for the safer side.

Kazakhstan is generally an affordable travel destination. Accommodation, food, and transportation are relatively inexpensive. Of course, tourists are charged more than locals while opting for tours in general.

The currency of Kazakhstan is the Kazakhstani Tenge (KZT). It’s recommended to exchange some currency upon arrival at the airport or in the city (this will more more). Credit cards are widely accepted in major establishments, but it’s advisable to carry cash for smaller purchases and in more remote areas.
